The Goddess Latona

Some scholars associate the Roman mother goddess Latona (Leto/ Lycia/ Lucia) with the Biblical Mother Mary; Diana (Artemis) with Mary Magdalene; Apollo (Sol Invictus/ Mythras/ Attis) with Christ; and Jupiter with St. Peter (Father of the Jews also known as Ju-Piter/ Jove/ Jehovah/ Yahu/ Yahweh). Roman mythology describes Latona as searching for a place to have her children, finally settling on a floating island for a sea birth much like Venus.

The prominent and central position of this statue at Versailles suggests that Napoleon, the new Sun King of a Christian France, was aware of this pagan association.
