Folkoric Elves and Mushrooms

The red elf or “light elf” lived in the red and white-spotted Amanita muscaria mushroom. The yellow-tan elf or "dark elf", who lived in the Psilocybe semilanceata mushroom, was known by his pointy Phrygian "liberty" cap. And the blue elf or "black elf", referred to as a "dwarf", lived in the Psilocybe cyanescens mushroom, which bruises blue and dries dark purple. Each of these mushrooms was considered a magical home to elves, fairies and dwarves because when they were consumed in sufficient quantities, elf-like beings became visible.
