Odin: A Cyclops Symbol of Enlightenment

Odin's missing eye was pledged to a giant so that he might drink from the well beneath the Yggdrasil or Tree of Life. Doing so would trade his ordinary vision for a much greater inner vision and wisdom.

Like the Greek Cyclops, Odin is a source for the many tales of one-eyed giants. His missing eye was symbolic of the third eye and entheogenic (or psychedelic) visions induced by drinking from the Tree of Life and Knowledge.
